These thick strokes/marks might blend into one another, but they will tend to create distinct streaks or spots that add texture in relief. Because the brush is so loaded with paint, the artist generally does not know exactly how the blob of paint on the brush will land and/or be spread across the painting, so a degree of indeterminacy is introduced. The generous amount of paint can also leave a strong impression of the energy in the artist's stroke and can be used to express powerful emotions.
