• A range of values of multiple colors are used, but each color (with its range of values) is kept separate from the others without blending

For instance, a range of reds from light to dark might be present, along with a range of greens and a range of blues, but each of these colors are isolated from one another and do not blend to create another color. Multi-chromatic paintings/drawings can create an artificial, graphic, or supernatural impression.

The colors used in a multi-chromatic piece might be chosen as symbolic representations of the character of a subject, object, or scene. The placement of the colors can be used to move the viewer's eyes around the piece, going from place to place where each color is found.
