With rounded distortion, the edges and forms of characters/objects are kept rounded, smoothly flowing from curve to curve with few or no sharp angles. Unlike elongation, rounded distortion of form tends to expand the width of an object or character rather than its height or length.
Rounded distortion might occur due to an artist’s unconscious tendencies, a conscious preference for rounded characters/objects, a cultural preference for depicting characters/objects in a more rounded fashion, or as a choice to accentuate an already rounded character/object.
