Angular distortion converts more rounded forms into straighter forms and curving turns into sharp angles. Such a distortion can give a harder, more analytical, machine-like look to an otherwise organic character or object.
Angular distortion might occur due to an artist’s unconscious tendencies, a conscious preference for angular characters/objects, a cultural preference for depicting characters/objects in a more angular fashion, or as a choice to accentuate an already angular character/object.
